1. Analytics and advertising cookies, only with your consent

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages students find useful and where the purchase process gets stuck, and the Google Ads tag to measure whether our ads lead to purchases. Both are provided by Google Ireland Limited. They set cookies only after you click "Accept" in the cookie banner: _ga and _ga_<ID> for Google Analytics (up to 2 years) and _gcl_au for Google Ads (90 days).

Until you choose, and if you click "Reject", both tags run in Google Consent Mode with all storage denied: no cookies are set and no identifier is stored in your browser. Google then receives only cookieless signals, such as that a page was loaded and which browser was used, and uses them in aggregate to estimate visits and conversions. We do not build advertising profiles about you and we do not sell your browsing behaviour.

You can change your choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link in the footer of every page.

2. Strictly necessary cookies

Apart from the analytics and advertising cookies above, the only cookies we set are strictly necessary for the website's core functionality: specifically, to keep you securely signed in. Under Article 11.7a of the Dutch Telecommunications Act (Telecommunicatiewet), which implements the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC as amended), cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you have explicitly requested (such as staying logged into your account) are exempt from the requirement to obtain prior consent. That is why the cookie banner only asks about analytics and advertising.

Both cookies are set with the HttpOnly and SameSite=Lax attributes, meaning they cannot be read by client-side scripts and are not sent along with most cross-site requests, which reduces the risk of theft or misuse.

3. Browser local storage — not a cookie, but disclosed for transparency

To remember the contents of your shopping cart and any applied promo code between visits, we use your browser's localStorage, a standard web-storage mechanism distinct from a cookie: it is never automatically transmitted to our servers with each request, and only your browser can read it. Your cookie choice is stored the same way (examify_consent), so the banner does not ask again on every visit.

4. Third-party cookies via our payment provider

When you reach the payment step of checkout, our payment provider, Mollie B.V., or your chosen bank or payment method, may set its own cookies necessary to complete and secure your payment (for example, for fraud prevention or to remember your selected payment method during that transaction). Those cookies are set and controlled by Mollie or your payment provider, not by Exam.ify, and are governed by their own cookie and privacy policies.

5. How to control or delete cookies

Blocking the strictly necessary cookies will prevent you from staying signed in to your account. Analytics and advertising cookies are only set if you accept them, and you can withdraw that consent at any time with "Cookie settings" in the footer. You can also view, block, or delete cookies through your browser's settings. Most browsers let you delete existing cookies, block cookies from specific or all websites, and be notified when a cookie is set; consult your browser's help documentation for exact steps, as this varies by browser and version.

6. Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy if the cookies or storage technologies we use change. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above.
