OMPT syllabus overviews: OMPT-A to OMPT-G
Universities ask for different OMPT modules depending on how much mathematics a programme needs in the first year. These overviews set out what each module covers, how long it runs and roughly how much preparation it takes, so you can check you are studying for the right one before you start.
Examify has verified the OMPT requirement of 103 programmes at 31 universities against their official admission pages. The module and the minimum score are always set by the programme, so start from the programme page, then open the syllabus for that module below.

Questions, time, topics and suggested preparation come from the test provider's syllabus pages. The programme count is from Examify's verified university data; a programme that accepts two modules is counted under both.
What the OMPT modules have in common
7 chapters appear in five or more modules: Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms. If you have prepared one of these chapters for one module, that work carries over to another.
The differences are at the top of each syllabus. OMPT-B and OMPT-D add trigonometry and integration, OMPT-E replaces differentiation with five statistics and probability chapters, OMPT-G adds physics and chemistry, and OMPT-C stops at geometry. That is why a programme that accepts two modules usually sets a lower minimum on the larger one.
OMPT-A syllabus
OMPT-A is the entry-level admission test, focused on the core algebra and pre-calculus skills most Dutch university programs expect on day one.

OMPT-B syllabus
OMPT-B builds on the OMPT-A foundation and adds trigonometry and integration, making it suited to programs with a heavier first-year math load.

OMPT-F is the most advanced test in the series, concentrating entirely on algebra, functions, and differentiation at depth rather than breadth.

OMPT syllabus: frequently asked questions
- Which OMPT module should I take?
- The one your programme names on its admission page; you do not choose. Across the 103 programmes at 31 universities Examify has verified, OMPT-A is required by 42 programmes and OMPT-D by 31, so those two cover most applicants. The university pages list the module and minimum score per programme.
- Which OMPT module is the hardest?
- OMPT-D has the largest syllabus (242 topics in 11 chapters), 21 questions in 180 minutes and the highest fee, so it is the heaviest on every published measure. OMPT-E and OMPT-G carry the same 120-hour preparation estimate because they add statistics, or physics and chemistry, that most applicants have not studied.
- Do the OMPT modules share questions or chapters?
- They share chapters, not questions. Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms appear in most modules; each module then adds its own chapters and sets its own question count and time limit, so the same chapter is tested at a different pace in OMPT-A (about 2.3 minutes per question) than in OMPT-D (about 8.6).
- How long does OMPT preparation take?
- The test provider suggests about 40 hours for OMPT-C, 80 for OMPT-A and OMPT-F, 100 for OMPT-B and 120 for OMPT-D, OMPT-E and OMPT-G. Those figures assume you relearn the whole syllabus. A timed diagnostic mock scored per chapter usually cuts them by half or more.
