University of Antwerp Math Entrance Exam (OMPT)

The University of Antwerp requires OMPT-A with a minimum score of 75% for one programme: the Bachelor of Social-Economic Sciences at the Faculty of Business and Economics, and only for candidates with a non-EEA secondary-school diploma. SAT Math, ACT Math or AP Calculus AB are accepted instead. No attempt rule is published. Examify verified this on the official admission page on 23 July 2026.

University of Antwerp OMPT requirements by programme

This is the only University of Antwerp programme with a published OMPT requirement, and it is narrower than most entries in our university list. The test is tied to the diploma, not to the programme as a whole: an applicant with an EEA diploma is assessed on that diploma, and the mathematics test does not come into play. The university is in Belgium, so the Dutch alternatives that appear on many other pages (CCVX, Boswell-Bèta, VWO deelcertificaat) are not mentioned. The three alternatives Antwerp does list are all American tests: SAT Math at 640 or higher, ACT Math at 27 or higher, or a 4 on AP Calculus AB.

Two things are not on the page. There is no attempt limit and no validity period for an OMPT-A result. That does not mean attempts are unlimited; the rule is simply not published, so ask admissions before you treat a first booking as a trial run. Which OMPT module the University of Antwerp uses and what it looks like

Antwerp uses OMPT-A only. The format below comes from the official syllabus page on omptest.org.

OMPT-A is the entry-level module and covers the algebra and pre-calculus that economics programmes expect on day one. Its eight chapters are Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, and Differentiation. The last three carry most of the weight: Functions and Differentiation alone hold 69 of the 176 topics. There is no trigonometry, geometry, integration or statistics. University of Antwerp OMPT minimum score in context

Antwerp's 75% sits at the top of the range. Most programmes that accept the OMPT set their threshold between 60% and 75%. Maastricht School of Business and Economics also asks 75% on OMPT-A. Erasmus School of Economics asks 70% on OMPT-A for IBEB and counts the first attempt only. Tilburg University asks 70% and allows a maximum of two attempts. Radboud University sits at the low end with 55% on OMPT-D.

On a 52-question test, 75% means about 39 correct answers, so you can afford roughly 13 mistakes. The real exam is proctored, timed and graded on the final answer, and a mock taken at home tends to run a few points higher than the real result. Aim 10 to 15 points above the threshold, so 85 to 90% on your last full-length mock, before you book. A comparison of thresholds across universities is in OMPT passing scores.

How to prepare for the University of Antwerp OMPT test

The test provider's estimate for OMPT-A is about 80 hours. That figure describes a student who relearns most of the syllabus; a diagnostic mock shows how much of it applies to you.

1. Sit a full-length timed OMPT-A mock first: 52 questions, 120 minutes, no notes. Examify's OMPT-A generation-1 mock has the same question count and time limit. The free OMPT practice test is shorter and shows the answer-entry format before you spend a full mock.
2. Score the mock per chapter. Chapters where you are below about 70% are your study list; take their share of the 176 topics and multiply the 80 hours by that share. Someone who only fails Differentiation and Exponential functions and logarithms is looking at 20 to 25 hours, not 80. More on this in how long OMPT preparation takes.
3. Work the weak chapters in syllabus order, weakest first, and log every wrong answer as either "method unknown" or "slip". Give Functions and Differentiation the largest block, since they hold about 40% of the topics.
4. Practise the answer format. The OMPT grades the final answer as typed, so a correct method with a badly entered fraction or exponent scores zero. Enter every practice answer in the real input box.

6. Sit a second full-length mock about two weeks before your intended test date. Book only if it lands at 85% or higher. If it lands below 80%, move the date rather than spend an attempt. A day-by-day version of this plan is in improve your OMPT score in 30 days.

Booking, deadlines and results for University of Antwerp applicants

An OMPT-A attempt costs €240 and every attempt is bought separately. A slot has to be booked at least 72 hours in advance, and results with the digital certificate arrive within 8 business days, which is 10 to 12 calendar days depending on the weekday. Count back from the application deadline Antwerp gives you for your diploma category; we do not publish that date here, so take it from the official admission page.

The last safe test date is about 12 calendar days before the deadline. If you want room for one retake, book the first attempt about 38 days before the deadline: 12 days for results, 14 days to fix weak chapters and rebook, and 12 days for the second result. Because Antwerp does not publish an attempt rule, confirm with admissions that a second attempt would be accepted before you plan on it.
