Vytautas Magnus University (VDU) in Kaunas, Lithuania, requires OMPT-A or OMPT-D for 17 bachelor's and 20 master's programmes, with minimum scores of 55%, 65% or 70% depending on the programme, and a maximum of two attempts per year. Vytautas Magnus University OMPT requirements by programme

The pattern is by subject, not by degree level. Humanities, languages, social sciences and sport ask for OMPT-A at 55%. Political Studies keeps OMPT-A but raises the bar to 65%. Business, biology and environmental programmes use OMPT-D at 55%, and the more quantitative bachelors (economics, finance, informatics, multimedia, engineering) use OMPT-D at 65%. The master's rows follow the same logic, and Applied Informatics sits alone at 70% on OMPT-D, the highest figure in the table.

Two things are unusual. First, VMU publishes everything in a single yearly PDF rather than on separate programme pages, so the source above covers every row. Second, the document lists a few programmes that need no OMPT at all: Music Production and Performing Arts at bachelor's level, and Choreomundus, Social Anthropology and Performing Arts at master's level. The table does not mention SAT, ACT, CCVX, Boswell-Bèta or an on-site exam as alternatives; if you want to use another certificate, ask admissions rather than assume it is accepted.

Which OMPT modules Vytautas Magnus University uses and what they look like

VMU uses two modules, OMPT-A and OMPT-D. They differ a lot in length, question count and content, so check your row in the table before you start studying.

OMPT-A covers Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, and Differentiation. OMPT-D includes all eight OMPT-A chapters and adds Trigonometry, Geometry and Integration. With 21 questions in three hours, each question is longer and often has several parts, so the skill being tested is sustained, multi-step working rather than speed. Vytautas Magnus University OMPT minimum score in context

VMU's 55% thresholds are at the low end of what universities ask. Most programmes that accept the OMPT set their minimum between 60% and 75%. Erasmus School of Economics wants 70% on OMPT-A for IBEB and counts only the first attempt. Maastricht's School of Business and Economics asks 75%. Tilburg asks 70% with a maximum of two attempts. Radboud University sits at 55% on OMPT-D for its science bachelors, which is the closest comparison to VMU's biology and business rows.

VMU's 65% rows are in the middle of the usual range, and the 70% for the Applied Informatics master's matches Erasmus IBEB and Tilburg. On OMPT-A, 55% is roughly 29 correct answers out of 52 and 65% roughly 34. On OMPT-D the grading is per question part, so translate the percentage into a mock score instead of a question count.

Whatever your row says, plan for 10 to 15 points more on your final mock. Mock scores move 5 to 10 points between sittings, and the real exam adds a proctor, an ID check and a room scan. That makes 65 to 70% the working target for a 55% programme, 75 to 80% for a 65% programme and 80 to 85% for Applied Informatics. How to prepare for the Vytautas Magnus University OMPT test

The test provider's own estimate is about 80 hours for OMPT-A and about 120 hours for OMPT-D. That is the total for someone starting from little, so a diagnostic first tells you how much of it applies to you. Students who worked through preparation material scored 76% on average on their first attempt; those who did not scored 40%.

1. Sit a full-length timed mock of your module before you study: 52 questions in 120 minutes for OMPT-A, 21 questions in 180 minutes for OMPT-D. 2. Score the mock per chapter and rank the chapters from weakest to strongest. For OMPT-A that is eight chapters; for OMPT-D it is eleven, and Trigonometry, Geometry and Integration are usually where OMPT-A-level candidates lose the most.
3. Work through the weak chapters in syllabus order, since later chapters (Differentiation, Integration) depend on Algebra and Functions. Give the three extra OMPT-D chapters about a third of the total time if they are new to you.
4. Practise the answer format. The OMPT grades final answers entered in an on-screen input, so an expression that is mathematically right but ambiguous can be marked wrong. Enter every practice answer the way the real box expects it.
5. Add timing once accuracy is there: 2.3 minutes per question on OMPT-A, about 8.6 minutes per question on OMPT-D. In OMPT-A you should be past question 26 at the 60-minute mark.
6. Sit a second full mock. Book the real exam only when it lands 10 to 15 points above your VMU minimum. If it does not, a few more weeks of study cost less than an attempt, and you only have two per year.

Booking, deadlines and results for Vytautas Magnus University applicants

The OMPT is booked on omptest.org at least 72 hours before the slot and taken on your own computer with a live proctor. Each attempt is paid separately: €240 for OMPT-A, €270 for OMPT-D. Results and the digital certificate arrive within 8 business days, counted from the day after the test.

That fixes your last safe test date. With one attempt and no buffer, sit the exam about 12 calendar days before the date VMU needs your certificate. With one retake in reserve, count 38 days back: 12 days for the first result, 14 days to fix weak chapters and rebook, and 12 days for the second result. Because VMU allows two attempts per year, the 38-day version is the one that actually uses both.
