OMPT Pass Marks Compared: What Score Do You Need at Each University?
There is no single "passing" the OMPT — the test reports a percentage, and each university decides what score counts. The spread is wider than most applicants expect, and it should directly change your preparation target.
Published score requirements at a glance
- Maastricht University (School of Business and Economics): 75% — and the university explicitly advises not booking the test until your practice performance is well above that.
- Rotterdam School of Management (International Business Administration): 75% on OMPT-F.
- VU Amsterdam: 65% on OMPT-A or 60% on OMPT-B for economics/business programmes; 70% for the Artificial Intelligence programme — with a two-attempts-per-round cap.
- Erasmus University College: 70%, and a certificate older than two years isn't accepted.
- University of Amsterdam (Econometrics and Data Science): 70% on OMPT-D.
- Amsterdam University College (Sciences major): 70% on OMPT-B or OMPT-G.
- Tilburg University: 60% on OMPT-A for some programmes, 70% for others.
- KU Leuven and several others sit around the 60% mark for their listed programmes.
Two universities can demand the same variant with a 15-point gap in required score — so "is my mock score good enough?" has no answer until you know your programme's number. Requirements shift between intakes; always confirm the current figure on your programme's own admission page, and see our per-university guides on the universities page for details per institution.
Set your prep target above the pass mark, not at it
Exam-day performance almost always lands below relaxed practice performance — nerves, pacing, and the answer-entry system all shave points. A sensible rule: aim for timed mock scores at least 10 percentage points above your requirement. Needing 60% and mocking at 72% is a comfortable position; needing 75% and mocking at 76% is a coin flip. Maastricht's own advice — practice far above the threshold before booking — generalizes to every programme.
Know your attempt budget too
Pair the score requirement with the attempt policy: a 70% target with three attempts is a very different problem from 75% with one attempt (see our guide on OMPT retakes and attempts).
