Amsterdam University College Math Entrance Exam (OMPT)

Amsterdam University College (AUC) requires a different OMPT module per major of its Liberal Arts and Sciences bachelor: OMPT-B or OMPT-G for Sciences, OMPT-E for Social Sciences and OMPT-C for Humanities, each with a 70% minimum. Results are due by 1 July for September enrolment. Examify verified this on the official AUC pages on 23 July 2026.

Amsterdam University College OMPT requirements by programme

The pattern is simple: one degree, one threshold, three modules. AUC does not raise or lower the 70% by major; it changes the exam behind it. A Humanities applicant sits OMPT-C, the shortest module with 66 topics. A Social Sciences applicant sits OMPT-E, which carries a full statistics track. A Sciences applicant chooses between OMPT-B, which runs through calculus, and OMPT-G, which trades integration for physics and chemistry. AUC's own recommendation is OMPT-B for calculus-heavy tracks, so take OMPT-G only if physics and chemistry are the stronger side of your school record.

Two details on the AUC page matter for planning. The Social Sciences switch from OMPT-A to OMPT-E is complete: an OMPT-A certificate no longer satisfies that major, so older forum posts that mention OMPT-A for AUC are out of date. And the page fixes a results date rather than an attempt limit: OMPT results have to be with AUC by 1 July for a September start. No attempt cap and no alternative test (SAT, ACT, CCVX or Boswell-Bèta) appear in the data Examify verified, so ask admissions before you rely on either.

Which OMPT module Amsterdam University College uses and what it looks like

AUC uses four modules across its three majors. The format facts below come from the test provider's syllabus pages; the minutes per question are the duration divided by the question count.

OMPT-B is the recommended route for the Sciences major. Its chapters are Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, Differentiation, Trigonometry and Integration. OMPT-G is the alternative for the Sciences major. It covers Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, Sequences and series, Trigonometry, Geometry basics, Geometry continued, Physics (mechanics) and Chemistry. It has fewer topics than OMPT-B but a longer time limit and a higher hour estimate, because each of its 26 questions combines several skills and two chapters are not mathematics at all. OMPT-E is the Social Sciences module. Chapters 1 to 7 are Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, and Exponential and logarithmic functions. Chapters 8 to 12 are Descriptive statistics, Probability, Combinatorics, Random variables and Common probability distributions. OMPT-C is the Humanities module and the lightest of the four. Its chapters are Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, and Geometry. With 4 minutes per question there is time to check working, but a 70% threshold on 30 questions leaves room for only 9 errors, so precision in the answer box matters more than speed. Amsterdam University College OMPT minimum score in context

AUC's 70% sits in the middle of the 60 to 75% range that most OMPT partner programmes use, and it matches Erasmus IBEB, which asks 70% on OMPT-A but counts the first attempt only. Maastricht School of Business and Economics asks more, 75% on OMPT-A. Radboud asks 55% on OMPT-D, and Tilburg asks 70% with a maximum of two attempts. What makes the AUC number unusual is that it is applied to four modules of very different weight: 70% on OMPT-C means 21 correct answers out of 30 in a 66-topic syllabus, while 70% on OMPT-E means 28 out of 40 across 161 topics including statistics.

Whatever your major, do not aim at 70% on a mock. The real exam is proctored, timed and graded on the typed final answer, and most students score below their practice result. How to prepare for the Amsterdam University College OMPT test

Plan around the test provider's hour estimates for your module: 40 for OMPT-C, 100 for OMPT-B, 120 for OMPT-E and OMPT-G. At 2.5 to 3 hours a day that is two weeks for OMPT-C and six to eight weeks for the other three. The preparation time guide adjusts these figures for your starting level.

1. Confirm your major and therefore your module before you open a single chapter. Sciences applicants who are unsure between OMPT-B and OMPT-G should sit a diagnostic mock of each and pick the module with the larger margin above 70%.
2. Sit a full-length diagnostic mock under exam conditions: timer on, answers typed, on-screen calculator only. 3. Score the mock per chapter and rank the chapters from weakest to strongest. Give the weakest two or three the largest share of hours: for OMPT-E that is usually chapters 8 to 12, for OMPT-B usually Trigonometry and Integration, for OMPT-G usually Physics (mechanics) and Chemistry.
4. Practise in the answer format from day one. The OMPT grades the final answer as typed, so entering an unambiguous expression in the equation editor is part of the skill. The free OMPT practice test shows two of the harder questions per module in the real answer box, with the solution after each.
5. Time every drill set from the second week at your module's pace: about 2.3 minutes per question for OMPT-B, 3 minutes for OMPT-E, 4 minutes for OMPT-C and 6.9 minutes for OMPT-G.
6. Sit a second full-length mock about two weeks before your planned test date. Book only if it lands 10 to 15 points above 70%; otherwise move the date. Booking, deadlines and results for Amsterdam University College applicants

The test provider's rules set your latest test date. A slot must be booked at least 72 hours in advance. Each attempt is bought separately and costs €240 for OMPT-B, OMPT-C, OMPT-E and OMPT-G (€270 applies only to OMPT-D and OMPT-F, which AUC does not use). Results arrive within 8 business days, which is 10 to 12 calendar days depending on the weekday.

AUC's published date is 1 July for results, so the last safe test date is about 12 calendar days before it, in mid June. If you want one retake in reserve, allow 38 days: 12 for results, 14 to fix weak chapters and rebook, 12 for the second result, which puts the first sitting in late May. Because AUC does not publish an attempt limit, confirm with admissions that a second attempt would be accepted before you plan on one.
