Arcada University of Applied Sciences Math Entrance Exam (OMPT)

Arcada University of Applied Sciences in Helsinki requires a different OMPT module for each of its three separate-application bachelors: OMPT-A for International Business, OMPT-B for Information Technology and OMPT-G for Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering. The minimum score is 50% for all three, with a maximum of three attempts before applying. Examify verified this on the official pages on 23 July 2026.

Arcada University of Applied Sciences OMPT requirements by programme

Arcada publishes a dedicated "admission through OMPT test" page for each programme, so the three rows below each come from their own source.

The pattern is simple: the score and the attempt rule are the same everywhere, and only the module changes with the programme's mathematics load. The business degree uses the entry-level module. The two engineering degrees split: Information Technology takes OMPT-B, which adds trigonometry and integration, while Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering takes OMPT-G, the only module with physics and chemistry chapters.

Two details from the earlier version of this post still apply. Arcada's pages note that students admitted through the OMPT route receive a €240 tuition deduction, and they state that the score must be verifiable in the OMPT database by a stated deadline. So a passing result alone is not enough: the certificate has to be registered with the test provider before Arcada's cut-off. The pages Examify checked do not name an alternative test such as SAT, ACT or CCVX, and do not state how long a result stays valid.

Which OMPT module Arcada University of Applied Sciences uses and what it looks like

Arcada uses three modules, one per programme. The formats below come from the official syllabus pages.

OMPT-A, the International Business module, covers Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, and Differentiation. It is core algebra and pre-calculus with no trigonometry or integration. Functions and Differentiation are the largest chapters. The topic list is on Examify's OMPT-A syllabus page.

OMPT-B, the Information Technology module, has all eight OMPT-A chapters plus Trigonometry and Integration. The two extra chapters are the ones most applicants have studied least. See the OMPT-B syllabus page.

OMPT-G, the Mechanical and Sustainable Engineering module, is a different kind of test. Its chapters are Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, Sequences and series, Trigonometry, Geometry basics, Geometry continued, Physics (mechanics) and Chemistry. It has the fewest topics but the longest official estimate, because physics and chemistry are new material for many applicants. See the OMPT-G syllabus page.

Arcada University of Applied Sciences OMPT minimum score in context

Arcada's 50% is below the 60% to 75% range most programmes use, and it is the same on all three modules. Erasmus School of Economics asks IBEB applicants for 70% on OMPT-A and counts only the first attempt. Maastricht School of Business and Economics asks for 75% on OMPT-A. Tilburg asks for 70% with a maximum of two attempts. Radboud's 55% on OMPT-D is the closest comparison, and Arcada sits five points under it with one more attempt allowed.

In questions, 50% is about 26 correct answers out of 52 on OMPT-A, 32 out of 64 on OMPT-B and 13 out of 26 on OMPT-G. On OMPT-G every wrong answer costs nearly 4 percentage points, so the low threshold does not make that module easy to pass by chance. Mock scores move 5 to 10 points between sittings, and the real exam adds a proctor, an ID check and a room scan. Aim 10 to 15 points above the threshold on a mock, so 60 to 65%, before you book. How to prepare for the Arcada University of Applied Sciences OMPT test

Three attempts and a 50% bar give more room than most programmes, but each attempt still costs €240 and up to 8 business days of waiting. Plan around the official hours, 80 for OMPT-A, 100 for OMPT-B and 120 for OMPT-G, and let mocks decide when to book.

1. Sit a full-length diagnostic mock before studying: 52 questions in 120 minutes for OMPT-A, 64 in 150 for OMPT-B, 26 in 180 for OMPT-G. Examify's free OMPT practice test shows two harder questions per module in the real answer box; for the diagnostic use a full mock such as the OMPT-A generation-1 mock, the OMPT-B generation-1 mock or the OMPT-G generation-1 mock.
2. Score the mock per chapter and rank the chapters from weakest to strongest. Chapters under about 70% set your study list; their share of the topics tells you how much of the official estimate you actually need. The arithmetic per module is in how long OMPT preparation takes.
3. Study the weak chapters in syllabus order. OMPT-A and OMPT-B applicants start with Numbers, Algebra and Quadratic equations, then give Functions and Differentiation the largest block; OMPT-B applicants add Trigonometry and Integration afterwards. OMPT-G applicants should treat Physics (mechanics) and Chemistry as a separate block, since nothing in the algebra chapters prepares for them.
4. Practise in the answer format from the first week. Every final answer is checked by a computer algebra system and reviewed by a mathematician, and a correct method with an ambiguous final answer earns nothing.
5. From the second week, time every set at the module's pace: 2.3 minutes per question for OMPT-A and OMPT-B, 6.9 for OMPT-G.

Booking, deadlines and results for Arcada University of Applied Sciences applicants

An OMPT slot must be booked at least 72 hours in advance. Each attempt is bought separately at €240 for OMPT-A, OMPT-B and OMPT-G, so the three attempts Arcada allows come to €720 at most. Results and the digital certificate arrive within 8 business days, which is 10 to 12 calendar days depending on the weekday.

Arcada's OMPT pages state that the result must be verifiable in the OMPT database by a stated deadline, but the deadline itself is not in the data Examify stores, so take it from the programme's separate-application page and count backwards. With one attempt, the last safe test date is about 12 calendar days before that deadline. To keep one of the three attempts in reserve, the first test should sit about 38 days before it: 12 days for results, 14 days to fix weak chapters and rebook, 12 days for the second result.
