OMPT-E covers 12 chapters: Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential and logarithmic functions, Descriptive statistics, Probability, Combinatorics, Random variables, Common probability distributions.

When to take the OMPT for a Mykolas Romeris University application

OMPT results arrive within 8 business days and a test slot has to be booked at least 72 hours in advance, so the last safe test date is about 12 calendar days before the application deadline. If you want one retake in reserve, sit the first attempt about 38 days before the deadline. Most programmes allow up to three attempts, each at the full fee, but some count only the first attempt, so confirm the rule on the programme page linked in the table.

Each attempt costs €240 (OMPT-A, B, C, E, G) or €270 (OMPT-D, F). A full-length timed mock before the first paid attempt shows whether you are already above the minimum score. How to book the OMPT, step by step.

MRU does not publish a long per-faculty table. It publishes a one-page PDF with a simple rule: OMPT-A, unless your programme is on the OMPT-E list. All five OMPT-E programmes are bachelor's programmes, which we checked on each programme page, so every master's applicant who needs the OMPT sits OMPT-A. Two of the five are double degrees with Dongseo University in South Korea, with the first two years in Vilnius and the last two in Busan.

The PDF also says that passing means you meet the mathematics requirement and nothing more. It does not guarantee a place. Admission at MRU is competitive, and the admission page asks for at least 60% of the maximum possible GPA in most cases. Neither page gives a validity period for the OMPT certificate, and neither names another test that can replace it.

Who has to take the OMPT for MRU

Not every international applicant. The admission page says the university "may additionally require" OMPT results. The country-specific requirements page is more concrete: it lists the OMPT result as a required document for two countries, Bangladesh and Pakistan, for both bachelor's and master's applications. For these applicants it sits in the document list next to the school certificates, not in a list of options.

Applicants from other countries face other maths checks. Anyone may be asked to take an additional knowledge evaluation in English, mathematics or a motivational interview, and a gap of three years or more after school can trigger one. Some country entries set their own maths bar: US applicants who send SAT results need at least 600 in maths, and Egyptian applicants to Psychology must pass a mathematics exam at MRU. If your country entry does not mention the OMPT, do not buy an attempt until MRU asks for one.

Bangladeshi applicants should read one more line on that page. Backgrounds in professional or business studies can only be considered for business studies at MRU. Two of the business bachelor's programmes, Business Management and Startup Building and Global Business and Modern Marketing, are on the OMPT-E list, so check the module before you book.

Which OMPT modules MRU uses and what they look like

OMPT-A covers Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, and Differentiation. OMPT-E shares the first seven of those, the same algebra and function work, but drops Differentiation and adds five chapters: Descriptive statistics, Probability, Combinatorics, Random variables and Common probability distributions.

That difference matters more than the score. A Psychology applicant who knows school algebra but has never met a binomial distribution has more new material to cover than an OMPT-A candidate, which is why the official estimate is 120 hours against 80. OMPT-E gives some of it back in pace: 3 minutes per question against 2.3 on OMPT-A. The modules are compared side by side in OMPT-A vs OMPT-D vs OMPT-E, and the chapter lists are on the OMPT-A and OMPT-E syllabus pages.

If you are weighing an OMPT-E programme against an OMPT-A one, note that the PDF does not say whether one module's result counts for the other. Ask study@mruni.eu before you book. With two attempts a year, you cannot spend one on the wrong module.

MRU OMPT minimum score in context

MRU's 55% sits at the low end of what Lithuanian universities ask. Vilnius University also uses 55% on OMPT-A for its economics and business bachelor's programmes and 55% on OMPT-E for Innovative Communication and Entrepreneurship, but asks 70% for Business Data Analytics on OMPT-D and for its data science and mathematics master's programmes on OMPT-E. Vytautas Magnus University in Kaunas asks 55% on OMPT-A for humanities and social science bachelor's programmes, 65% for Political Studies, and 55% to 65% on OMPT-D for business, science and informatics. VILNIUS TECH names no module at all: it asks 60% for university-level bachelor's programmes (50% for professional bachelor's) from applicants from Pakistan, Bangladesh or Nepal, and uses the score in place of the school maths grade. Kaunas University of Technology is the strict one, at 75% on OMPT-A or OMPT-D.

What sets MRU apart is OMPT-E for undergraduates. Among the Lithuanian universities in our data, only Vilnius University also uses OMPT-E at bachelor level, and only for one programme. The applicant group overlaps with VILNIUS TECH: both require the OMPT from Pakistani and Bangladeshi bachelor's applicants. If you apply to both, check which module VILNIUS TECH accepts before assuming one result covers the two applications.

On OMPT-A, 55% means about 29 correct answers out of 52, so you can miss 23. On OMPT-E it means 22 out of 40, so you can miss 18. That is a forgiving bar, and it is easy to underprepare for. Aim for 70% on a full-length mock before you book. Mock scores move between sittings, the real exam adds a proctor and strict final-answer grading, and a second failed attempt closes the OMPT route for that year. The full comparison of thresholds is in OMPT passing scores.

How to prepare for the MRU OMPT test

At 55% you probably do not need every one of the official 80 or 120 hours. A diagnostic mock tells you how many you do.

  1. Confirm the module first. If your programme is one of the five on the OMPT-E list, you sit OMPT-E; otherwise OMPT-A. Then check your country entry to confirm MRU requires the OMPT from you at all.
  2. Sit a full-length diagnostic mock under exam conditions: 120 minutes, timer on, answers typed. The free OMPT practice test shows two of the harder questions for each module in the real answer box; then take the full OMPT-A generation-1 mock or OMPT-E generation-1 mock built by Examify.
  3. Score the mock per chapter. On OMPT-A, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, and Differentiation usually hold the real gaps. On OMPT-E, the statistics block is five of twelve chapters. If you have never studied combinatorics or random variables, start there, because Probability, Random variables and Common probability distributions build on each other in that order.
  4. Practise in the answer format from day one. The OMPT checks final answers with a computer algebra system and a mathematician reviews formatting, so a correct method with an ambiguous final answer earns nothing.
  5. Run drill sets at exam pace: 2.3 minutes per question on OMPT-A, 3 on OMPT-E. Mark the hard ones and come back to them, rather than stalling.
  6. Take a second full mock about a week before your planned test date. Book only if it lands at 70% or above. Otherwise move the date rather than spend half of your yearly attempts.

Booking, deadlines and results for MRU applicants

Timing is where MRU applicants most often get caught. MRU needs your OMPT result within 2 weeks of receiving your application fee, and an application only counts as submitted once that fee is paid: €100 for non-EU citizens, €50 for EU citizens, MRU alumni and Ukrainians. On the OMPT side, a slot must be booked at least 72 hours ahead (MRU's document says three days), each attempt costs €240, and regular grading takes up to 8 business days. Pay today, book tomorrow, and the earliest test is three days later; add up to 8 business days of grading and the result can arrive 14 to 16 days after your payment. That is past MRU's limit, with no room for a retake.

So take the OMPT first and pay the application fee once your result is in. If you have already paid, the test provider sells fast grading for €120 per attempt, with results within 4 business days. One attempt plus the non-EU fee costs €340; a second attempt brings it to €580.

MRU has one intake a year, starting on 1 September. For 2026-2027, applications opened on 1 January 2026 and closed on 1 June 2026 for non-EU applicants, and on 24 July 2026 for applicants from EU/EFTA countries, from countries with a VFS Global centre, or who do not need a temporary residence permit. The 2027-2028 dates were not yet on the admission page when we checked. MRU also caps applications at 200 per country for applicants from outside the EU and EEA, and closes a country once the cap is reached. For Pakistani and Bangladeshi applicants, that makes a finished OMPT before the portal opens the safest plan: you can apply early instead of waiting for a result while the quota fills.

The booking steps, ID rules and proctoring setup are in how to book the OMPT, and the programme table with source links is kept current on the Mykolas Romeris University page.

Requirements can change between intakes, so confirm the module, score and attempt limit in MRU's current OMPT document before you pay for a slot. Examify is independent and not affiliated with the OMPT, SOWISO or any university.

{name} OMPT: frequently asked questions

Which OMPT module does Mykolas Romeris University require?
Mykolas Romeris University lists 2 programmes with an OMPT requirement, using OMPT-A, OMPT-E. The most common requirement is OMPT-A, asked for by 1 programme. The exact module for each programme is in the table above, sourced from the university's own admission page.
What is the minimum OMPT score for Mykolas Romeris University?
Every Mykolas Romeris University programme listed here requires at least 55% on the OMPT. The score is set by the programme, not by the test provider, and can change between admission cycles.
How do I prepare for the Mykolas Romeris University OMPT test?
Start with a full-length timed mock of the module your programme requires (OMPT-A, OMPT-E) to find your weak chapters, then work through those chapters on the syllabus page. Examify builds independent practice tests for every OMPT module; it is not affiliated with the official test provider.
Who has to take the OMPT to apply to MRU?
MRU's country-specific requirements list the OMPT result as a required document for applicants from Bangladesh and Pakistan, for both bachelor's and master's studies. The general admission page adds that the university may ask other applicants for OMPT results too, so wait for MRU to ask before you buy an attempt if your country entry does not mention it.
How many OMPT attempts does Mykolas Romeris University allow?
Two attempts per year. Each attempt is bought separately at €240 for OMPT-A or OMPT-E, so two attempts cost €480. A failed first attempt leaves you exactly one more for that year, which is why you should book only once a full mock is comfortably above 55%.
When does MRU need my OMPT result?
Within 2 weeks of MRU receiving your application fee payment. Regular OMPT grading takes up to 8 business days and a slot must be booked at least three days ahead, so taking the test after paying leaves almost no margin. Sit the OMPT first and pay the fee once the result is in, or buy fast grading (€120 extra, results within 4 business days).
How long should I prepare for the MRU OMPT test?
The test provider suggests about 80 hours for OMPT-A and about 120 hours for OMPT-E, because OMPT-E adds five statistics and probability chapters. With a 55% minimum, aim for 70% on a full-length mock before booking. At 10 hours a week that is roughly 8 weeks for OMPT-A and 12 for OMPT-E, less if your diagnostic mock is already strong.
