UCLL (University Colleges Leuven-Limburg) Math Entrance Exam (OMPT)

UCLL (UC Leuven-Limburg) accepts OMPT-A with a minimum score of 60% for its English-taught professional bachelor's programmes, but only from applicants whose secondary diploma was issued in one of 16 countries on its admission list. Even for them it is one of two options, because the SAT is accepted instead. Everyone else applies without it. Examify checked UCLL's 2026-27 application requirements page on 27 September 2026.

UCLL OMPT requirements by programme

UCLL does not attach the OMPT to a programme. Its admission page has one country drop-down that applies to all professional bachelor's degrees, and OMPT-A appears inside the entries for particular countries. The two programmes above are the English-taught bachelor's degrees UCLL lists for 2026-27. A third English option, the International Business Management track across Europe (BME), sends applicants to the BME partner website for its requirements. That link returned a 404 error when we checked, so we could not confirm whether the same OMPT rule applies to BME.

Which countries need the OMPT-A or SAT at UCLL

In each of these 16 entries the page lists a diploma with its minimum grade and then asks for one of two tests: the SAT or OMPT-A at 60%. Both parts are required, so a good OMPT score does not rescue a diploma grade below the minimum.

For Gambia, Ghana, Nigeria and Sierra Leone the page also accepts a Higher National Diploma in a subject related to the UCLL programme, and that route carries no SAT or OMPT requirement.

The countries missing from this table matter just as much. Kenya and Lebanon, for example, have grade-only entries: a KCSE with at least a C+ average, or a Lebanese Baccalauréat with at least 65%. India, Pakistan, Egypt, Morocco and Vietnam are grade-only too. Türkiye is a separate case: the Lise Diplomasi has to be combined with the YKS (TYT and AYT) or the SAT, and OMPT-A is not one of the options. If your diploma is Turkish, an OMPT score does not help you at UCLL.

If your country is not in the drop-down at all, UCLL says you can still apply with a diploma that gives access to higher education where it was issued. The admissions office may then ask for a standardised test such as a national entry exam, the SAT or OMPT-A, and it contacts you when it does. Wait for that request before you pay for a slot.

How Belgian admission rules lead to the OMPT at UCLL

UCLL is a Flemish university of applied sciences, so Flemish rules decide who can start a bachelor's degree there. UCLL's Dutch-language diploma page sets out the rule for foreign diplomas. If the issuing country has ratified the Lisbon Recognition Convention, you are admitted when your diploma gives access to higher education in that country. If it has not, you can be admitted when the diploma gives access to comparable higher education there and you pass an additional test of competences where the programme needs one. The English page adds that UCLL assesses diplomas mainly with the UK ENIC (Ecctis) database.

In practice the SAT or OMPT-A is that additional test. UCLL does not explain why a test is attached to one country and not another, so treat the drop-down entry for your country as the rule. The list also moves. UCLL calls it non-exhaustive and says countries are added or updated mostly in December, January and February, when the application season opens.

Two practical points follow. For applicants from the 16 countries, the SAT or OMPT-A is the only test in the academic half of the file. And OMPT-A does nothing for the language half. You still need IELTS Academic 6.5 (no section below 5.5), TOEFL iBT, Cambridge B2 First or another test UCLL lists, no older than two years, unless your diploma is exempt. The SAT works differently: UCLL accepts 520 on its reading and writing section as proof of English. If your English is strong, one SAT sitting can cover both halves. If maths is your stronger side, OMPT-A plus IELTS is usually faster to arrange, because an OMPT slot needs only 72 hours' notice and results arrive within 8 business days. Which OMPT module UCLL uses and what it looks like

UCLL uses OMPT-A only. The figures below come from the official OMPT-A syllabus.

The eight chapters are Numbers, Algebra, Linear formulas and equations, Systems of linear equations, Quadratic equations, Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, and Differentiation. The first five are secondary-school algebra that most applicants have seen before. Functions and Differentiation are the largest chapters, and Exponential functions and logarithms is where rusty applicants lose the most marks. UCLL OMPT minimum score in context

60% is a low bar for OMPT-A. The other two Belgian universities on Examify's list both ask 75% on the same module: KU Leuven for its Bachelor of Business Administration in Brussels and the University of Antwerp for Social-Economic Sciences. UCLL matches the 60% that Groningen's Faculty of Economics and Business asks on OMPT-A, and the 60% Tilburg sets for Psychology and International Sociology. Hanze asks 55% and Arcada 50%.

On 52 questions, 60% means about 32 correct answers, so you can miss around 20. That leaves room for one weak chapter. Aim for 75% on a timed mock before you book. Mock scores move between sittings, and the real exam adds a proctor, an ID check and strict grading of the final answer.

UCLL's page publishes no attempt limit and no validity period for the OMPT certificate. It also does not say whether the result must be in your file when you submit or may follow later. Upload it with the application. Processing takes 2 to 4 weeks, and a file that waits for a missing score loses time you do not get back before a visa deadline. How to prepare for the UCLL OMPT test

The official estimate for OMPT-A is about 80 hours. At a 60% target, most applicants who finished secondary-school maths need fewer, and a diagnostic mock tells you how many.

1. Sit a full-length diagnostic mock first: 52 questions, 120 minutes, timer on, answers typed. The free OMPT practice test shows two of the harder OMPT-A questions in the real answer box so you learn the input rules; then take the full OMPT-A generation-1 mock built by Examify.
2. Score it per chapter. If the total is already 65% or more, you mostly need format practice and your two weakest chapters. Below 50%, plan for most of the 80 hours.
3. Make the five algebra chapters reliable before anything else. They are the cheapest marks on the paper, and a 60% target rewards accuracy there more than reach into the hardest topics.
4. Then work through Functions, Exponential functions and logarithms, and Differentiation, in that order. You do not need every derivative rule to reach 60%, but you do need the basic ones.
5. Practise in the answer format from day one. The OMPT checks final answers with a computer algebra system and a mathematician reviews formatting, so a correct method with an ambiguous final answer scores nothing.
6. Take a second full mock about a week before your planned date. Book only if it lands at 75% or above; otherwise move the slot.

Booking, deadlines and results for UCLL applicants

An OMPT-A slot has to be booked at least 72 hours in advance, and each attempt costs €240 (€270 applies only to OMPT-D and OMPT-F, which UCLL does not use). Results and the digital certificate arrive within 8 business days, which is about 12 calendar days depending on the weekday.

UCLL's 2026-27 deadlines were 1 April, with a grace period until 1 May, for non-EEA applicants who need a Belgian study visa, 15 June for EEA applicants to the BME track, and 31 August for all other applicants. The programme page for International Business Management shows that applications for the September 2026 intake opened in December 2025. The 2027-28 dates were not yet published when we checked, so confirm them before planning around them.

If you need a visa, plan around 1 April, not the grace period. With one attempt and no buffer, your last safe test date is about 12 calendar days before you submit. With room for one retake, count 38 days: 12 for the result, 14 to fix the weak chapters and rebook, and 12 for the second result. You can apply in your final school year with predicted grades and a letter from your school, so there is no reason to wait for graduation before you sit the OMPT-A.

The application itself costs €50, which is non-refundable. For the English-taught bachelor's, non-EEA students on a study visa receive a payment invitation after approval and had to pay the tuition fee by 15 May in the 2026-27 cycle; UCLL issues the admission letter only after that payment. The 2026-27 fee was €8,600 for 60 credits: €2,000 fixed plus €110 per credit. UCLL refunds it after a visa refusal or change of plan only if you tell it before the academic year or semester starts.
